The Drafts board — every message before it goes out
Every message Elira has prepared for a family, in full, with the family it is addressed to and the day it belongs to. Nothing on this board has been sent.
[Drafts](/dashboard/drafts) is the board where you read Elira's messages before any family does. Each card is a real message — the same template, the same wording, the same language — addressed to a real family on your roster.
Reading a card
- A channel badge: Email, SMS, or Internal email.
- The student's name, and under the arrow the address or number it is written to.
- The step it belongs to — *Seat offer — Day 1*, *Registration reminder — Day 3*, *Seat at risk — Day 6*, *Documents needed — 2nd notice*, and the rest of the ladder, each with a line saying what that step is for.
- The date and time it belongs to, in New York school time.
- The subject where the message has one, and then the whole body. Nothing is truncated — what you read is what a guardian would read.
Internal email never goes to a family. It is the heads-up to your IEP director, and it is on the board so you can see exactly what your own staff receive.
Nothing on this board has been sent
Every message here is marked simulated, and the line above the board says so. It is what Elira would have sent, rendered through the templates the engine uses at send time — not a mock-up of them, and not a summary of them.
That is the point of the board: read a week of your own real families' messages, in your own words and your own dates, and decide whether you want them going out before any of them do.
On a free observation week the same cards are labelled would send, and the promise is stronger: nothing is sent to any family at any point during the week. See Starting with a free observation week.
Narrowing it down
Four filters across the top: All, Offered, Reg in progress, Reg completed. They ask where the family is *now*, not what the message was about — so *Offered* is every family still sitting on an unanswered offer, whatever step Elira last wrote to them at.
An empty board
It means one of two things, and the board tells you which:
- Your SchoolMint connection is not finished, so Elira has not been able to read your applicants at all. Finish it on Connect SchoolMint and the first read happens that night.
- It is connected and the overnight read has not happened yet. Elira reads your applicant list from SchoolMint overnight, so the first drafts appear the next morning.
Either way, nothing has been sent to any family in the meantime.
Where the rest lives
The board is what Elira *would* say. What she actually did, and whether it worked, is on your dashboard — see What Elira did today, and whether it worked. Per-family message history sits on that family's own row in Applicants, and pausing outreach for one family is done there too — see How Elira messages families.
