Approve your school calendar dates
Publish a school-wide calendar, approve its coverage, and confirm dates Elira can use in family answers.
Open Brain → Calendar in your private-school workspace. Owners upload and publish calendar sources and confirm dates; invited colleagues review them. Use this for term dates, holidays, closures and half days. Booked visits are separate in Visits.
Publish a school-wide source
Upload a PDF calendar up to 25 MB, or a PNG, JPEG or WEBP image up to 4 MB. It stays private until you open every page, confirm it is school-wide and contains no student records, and publish it. Unpublished uploads are deleted after 14 days. You can also provide a public HTTPS school-wide calendar link; review that link yourself. This is a manual connection, with no automatic calendar subscription.
Confirm the dates separately
Choose the school year, the first and last dates the source covers, and how long your review remains current. Approve that source, then add its dates. A published digital PDF can supply draft dates through the same calendar text reader used on the front page. Check every draft’s title, full date and kind before confirming it. Images and scans require manual dates. Nothing is inferred from an empty calendar cell.
Mark an entry as an event, school in session, school closed or a half day. An event does not establish that school is open. An explicit school-day ruling does. For a holiday inside a broader confirmed school-day range, select the exact broader ruling under the exception control; the exception replaces it only on the dates you confirm. Unrelated conflicting sources still ask staff. Answers name the absolute date and year; relative questions such as “tomorrow” use New York time.
Keep updates current
Use Amend this date to replace an approved date, and confirm the amendment. Retire an old source when replacing a calendar. If sources disagree, a date is missing, or the review expires, Elira asks staff instead of guessing. A question that names contradictory dates also goes to staff for clarification. A queued reply based on a changed calendar date is held for a fresh review.
These dates reach website, SMS and email answers through the same approval rules. A calendar-aware voice relay receives the same approved facts; the private phone line still needs the verified voice clip and a staff-approved version in the caller’s language. Without either, it takes a message.
